The tide is turning against traditional coupons. The good old days of mum and pop flipping through newspapers, clipping coupons, organizing them into envelopes or fancy folders are virtually over. To be sure, there are still people who bring their fancy coupon folders along when they go grocery shopping but they are a dying breed. These days, the younger generation prefer online coupons rather than printed coupons to save money.
Traditional coupons are losing their appeal, especially on brand names as it has been shown that you can probably save as much or more money by shopping for store brands. More importantly, printing coupons (whether the manufacturer prints them or you do so) is time-consuming, costly and environmentally inefficient.
Online coupons and mobile coupons make sense in today's society and they are definitely on the rise. In fact, the online coupons industry is in rip-roaring form. One online coupon code site saw a nearly 200% increase in activity in March and there are no signs that this activity slow down anytime soon.
Other sites have reported exploding traffic in the region of five million unique visitors per month. The market leaders in online coupons proudly proclaim monthly coupon values of $57 million in savings to their customers. Some of the popular products being purchased using online coupons are cereal, baby products, baking ingredients, diet products and yogurt.
Besides the obvious benefit of saving money, online coupons also provide a chance for you to become a member of the online shopping community. You are good to go after setting up a profile, after which you can connect with other like-minded people who fancy online coupons. Life-long friendships can be forged as you share common interests, even if you don't meet these friends in real life.
For some people, it's annoying to spend time hunting for good online coupon deals. However, doing so together with your online shopping friends turn it into a fun event. You save money, learn more about online coupon use and create a network of people that add to your online social life. Your friends will also impart their frugal living tips and let you in on more money saving tips.
If you are keen to hop on the online coupons bandwagon, start by visiting your favorite online stores and do a research for online coupon sites. Do not ignore the smaller online coupons sites as they sometimes offer better savings than the market leaders.
